It never SEEMS like it should take so long to get from Wisconsin to New York, but given the constraint to get the cheapest possible plane tickets, and my general attitude that I will not take a taxi even with a nosebleed and a broken arm -- well, it has been an extremely long day.

And I am sad at how many people I did not get to see for as long as I would have liked! And I did not get to properly say goodbye to anyone so I will issue a blanket

OMG IT WAS GREAT TO SEE YOU, HUG, LET'S DO THIS AGAIN NEXT YEAR.

It was in all honesty a slightly stressful con for me for a number of reasons but, after the year that I have had, I so needed to be reminded that the work that I am doing as a writer is part of an important project. Not to say that I'm going to write the kinds of books that can stand up alongside the Tiptree winners, but -- this is the water that I want to be swimming in, this is the land that I want to be plowing, and I believe that work is going to be worth it even when nothing comes up out of the ground.

(PS if anyone sees a writeup of the Policing YA Lit panel, could you let me know?)
