Verdict: thumbs up!

I could stare at Harry Potter And The Romantically Austere Landscapes forever.

I cannot say
that I have gone to hell
for your love
but often
found myself there
in your pursuit.
--William Carlos Williams, from "Asphodel, That Greeny Flower"

It was reading Hana no Kishi that got me thinking about Utena, which it shamelessly borrows from right down to one of the main characters – and the hugely wealthy and influential family she belongs to – having the name of Ohtori. And Utena got me thinking about Song of the Wind and Trees.

And I'm going to warn you, this is like 2000 words long )

1. Why do I only have half of Song of the Wind and Trees? Whyyyyy? Did I leave it in Montreal? If so, DON'T READ IT LITTLE SISTERS.

2. The Utena DVDs are out of print? Whyyyyy? (And supposedly getting reissued in 2011, so I will cross my fingers, because I don't own them and I should.)

3. All those people who like fanon Harry/Draco despite all the rest of Harry Potter fandom shouting about how these people have NOTHING to do with the canon Harry and Draco ought to read Song of the Wind and Trees, because fanon Harry and Draco look a lot like Serge and Gilbert. One's a good-hearted dark-haired orphan! One's a selfish bratty blond kid from an awful family! THEIRLOVEISSOPURE.
