27/8/09 09:29I never did manage to get Linux Mint back on my computer, but eventually I discovered that the distribution Mint is based on, Ubuntu, is available as a file that you can set up as a bootable USB drive without too much wrangling, and now AT LAST I have vanquished MIE.
In the process of setting this up, I discovered something. My netbook has only ("only," hah!) 20 GB of hard drive space. MIE took up TWELVE of those GB. Ubuntu Netbook Remix? 2.4 GB. I need those GB to do other things, thanks very much.
I swear, everything I've ever learned about computers has been after midnight with a headache and a total inability to give up.
