Don't apologize like this
20/2/09 08:41NY post "apologizes" to those who were offended by the dumb, unfunny (and, yes, racist) cartoon, saying:
1. If you spend more time trying to justify why you did nothing wrong and it's not your fault and people are just big meanies, than apologizing, it's not an apology.
2. If the only reasons you can think of for someone to be offended are that they're stupid or they have a grudge against you, it's not an apology. If that's really what you think, don't apologize.
However, there are some in the media and in public life who have had differences with The Post in the past - and they see the incident as an opportunity for payback.
To them, no apology is due.
Sometimes a cartoon is just a cartoon - even as the opportunists seek to make it something else.
