I'm going to NY Comic Con in February! FOR FREE. And I don't even have to take a day off work to do it. Because I AM SRS LIBRARIAN and librarians need to know about all those new-fangled Japanese backwards comic things the young people are reading.
In other news, I "learned" how to play Shogi last night; I played a guy much better than I am who teaches Shogi in elementary schools, and with a significant handicap and him hinting me along, I won. It's enough like chess that I was able to pick up the basic rules rather quickly - it helps that I could read the kanji, more or less.
The best part was when the guy I was playing against confided to his friend, "Makesou" (I'm losing), and I laughed under my breath because I understood him. And also because I was winning.
