(no subject)
23/9/08 22:111) I love it when I can get acquaintances and colleagues to sing the Wonderpets theme song. Today I was helping out with an anime program at a library near my usual one, and we got onto the subject of the technical bits of animation. "Oh, yeah," I said. "I know a little something about this because my sister's an animator; she works on a kids' show called Wonderpets."
At which point my fellow librarian started singing, "Wonderpets, Wonderpets, we're on our way..."
Hee!
2) The conversations you have with people who would like to write a book someday:
"So they won't let you have any input on the cover?"
"Well, no, probably not."
"But don't you have your own idea of what you'd like on the cover?"
"I do, but they have their own professional cover design people. I trust them to do a better job than I would of knowing what would look good on a bookstore shelf."
"But... don't you have your own idea of how it should be?"
And then we went over the same thing about movie/TV rights, where my position was pretty much the same, except:
a) Yeah, right, like it would ever happen
b) I know of enough adaptations that suffered, or would have suffered, for being too faithful to the original, and also enough adaptations that were butchered to little pieces, so - that's a bridge I can cross when I come to it, which is to say, never.
3) Did my roommate just say that he was no longer smoking inside the apartment, but only outside? Oh, happy day!
4) And yet, I am hearing far more of this conversation than I really needed to hear, so the moving-out plan still looks like a good plan.
