Arrrrrrgh S I
4/9/08 19:11YEARS of not having any RSI flare-ups (since McGill, if I'm not mistaken) and now they are back. My best guess is that I pushed myself too hard, too fast with the piano; level 3A is the one that has a lot of songs with the melody in the right hand and chords - occasionally loud, fast chords - in the left hand. And I bet my posture is awful, although I've been very careful of it lately.
So, the plan:
1) Stop playing as soon as it starts to twinge, even if that's only 5-10 minutes
2) Be reeeeally careful of my posture when playing or typing
3) Maybe stop thinking that I have a Bag of Holding and it's a good idea to be carrying around the entire contents of my apartment on my shoulder
4) Think about possibly considering wrist braces/dictation software/taking piano lessons specifically for fixing my posture/seeing a doctor, if nothing gets better.
It's not bad yet. I've still got time before it gets as bad as it got when I was in Japan writing novels longhand. But the lesson I learned from that is that I better take it seriously before it even starts to get bad.
