-Clean car
-Take car through the carwash
-Put up ad on craigslist
-Clean apartment
-Order certain presenty things online
-Do a lot of crochet
-Put things in boxes
-Throw away most of what is in my apartment
-Oh, also? I have approximately 70 library books I need to return, including a couple to Duke.

The hard thing is prioritizing. I know that I should be packing and otherwise preparing for the move but it's very hard to do with Christmas coming up as soon as it is and so much left undone. I'll have to abandon the translating entirely, I think. I think, oh, if I had been less of a slacker in November - but I was studying for the JLPT, I was recovering from studying for the JLPT (Kingdom Hearts!!), I was still beating my head on crochet trying to figure it out. And I didn't know that I was going to move.

The past couple of months have been hard and strange. I am going to cut myself a little slack.

Maybe I'll take refuge in Tradition Mishmash and say that technically I have until Epiphany to finish up people's presents.

child_lit is having a discussion of the Twilight books, which prompted me to think about them in more depth. I hated the second book, and couldn't even finish the third, but what I noticed about my review, looking back at it, is how ambivalent it is. The gender politics may be awful, but is the book really any worse than, say, Fushigi Yuugi from that perspective? And why did FY feel so new, and so fantastic to me, given that I've considered myself a feminist (albeit not necessarily one with a lot of perspective) since I was seven?
