(no subject)

I always enjoy Slacktivist's Left Behind Fridays, although there are diminishing returns on mocking really terrible books in expansive detail. This may be the best paragraph I've ever read of it:

Jerry B. Jenkins sat at a computer and typed these words: "Let me give you an idea how a woman thinks." And then -- inexplicably, unforgiveably -- he kept writing. If ever the seas were going to boil, the skies were going to fall and the moon was going to turn to blood, it should have happened then. After 330 pages of sexless machismo, misogyny and madonna/whore stereotypes, Jenkins now announces, in the voice of his madonna-in-training ingenue, that he will now enlighten us as to "How a Woman Thinks."

Transportation!

My wish list for a car:
(1) power locks
(2) a/c
(3) cd player
(4) automatic transmission
(5) it goes forward and backward and stops.
(6) it exists. You'd think this would go without saying, but of the eight or nine cars I looked up on the internet to go take a look at, none actually materialized for me...

Of which only 4-6 were non-negotiable.

Well-- it looks like I have my car. Dark green '99, just like Van-sama, but a smallish car (good head room, though!) with everything on my wish list. And I have been approved for financing, and I can afford it, so. There it is. Hopefully it doesn't suck. I will have a mechanic check it out just to be sure.
