Storytime this week went better than last week, where "better" is defined as "did not lock myself in the bathroom and cry." I did not get enough sleep, so I was too tired to be nervous, so I crashed like anything at 3:00 and had to have a Coke and some daytime cold medicine because it was the only thing I could find to stave off a headache.

Does everybody know about Scrotumgate? I thought it was hilarious at first, but after it's been discussed to death on every single one of the librarian blogs and mailing lists, I am merely exhausted. Is a dog's scrotum more inappropriate for ten-year-olds than a developmentally disabled person committing suicide because he saw the object of his affection in flagrante with another man? Because that got a Newbery Honor. So it's not like it's the first possibly inappropriate book to receive that award. Haven't read the book yet; it was an out-of-the-blue choice, so our library hadn't even ordered it until it got the Newbery.

More interesting, if you ask me, is the story of Joyce Hatto, who released many, many classical piano CDs, and died, and... iTunes identified one of her recordings as a recording of the same song by a different pianist entirely. The listener compared the two recordings and found them to be identical. Other recordings turned out to be copies of other artists' performances as well, either unmodified or with the tempo changed.
