(no subject)

Hearing about people's plans for Worldcon 2007 in Yokohama is making me all envious.

I must very gently remind myself: if I could get together the money to go back to Japan for a week, why would I choose to spend my time at a convention center? I mean, I like cons and all. But if I want to go to a con, it would be much cheaper to go to Wiscon. And if I want to go to Japan, then I want to spend my time doing things I couldn't do elsewhere. I learned my lesson about that at Shoujocon--it was fun, but not as fun as just hanging around New York.

It's not really in my budget anyway. ...Oh, wow, flights are cheaper than I had thought. But still not in my budget. I guess I'll just keep working on the various members of my family until I convince someone to go over there and take me along. *g*

Yikes!

Montreal school shooting, for those who haven't heard -- Middle Sister, by the way, is going to Concordia, which is much closer to Dawson than I'm comfortable with, though I haven't the slightest reason to suspect she was anywhere in the immediate vicinity. (And two other cousins living in Montreal, if not three--I can't quite keep track of them all...)

Sympathies and good thoughts to everyone involved or in the area. :(
