Many (by which I mean, six, or so?) years ago, someone on a Japanese-learning ML I was on recommended a book called Mishin, which was about a punk rocker who sews clothes, and because I was more into cosplay then, it always sounded like something that appeal to me. I promptly forgot about it. I was reminded of it at least once since then, but--you know, I never really mastered how to find novels in a Japanese bookstore, and so I never managed to actually get my hands on it, and then I forgot about it again.

For my graduation, I was given "Kamikaze Girls," a novel by Novala Takemoto and put out in English by Viz. The original title is Shimotsuma Monogatari: Yanki-chan to Lolita-chan, and it is about a biker chick and a girl who wears really pink frilly dresses and they become best friends. It's very good, though the translation struck me as off in a place or two, and I thought I should see what else Takemoto had written, and maybe I should read some of it in Japanese...

He's also the guy who wrote Mishin.

And he wrote a book called Emily. And also a book called Twins. Both of which describe me.

All of which is coincidental enough, but I think I will pick up some more of his books--both because I am amused, and because I really would like to see how he writes in Japanese.

The diary on his web page is utterly... yeah. )
