I just got ambushed with another book. Mainstream 'literary' YA, so help me--it's what I've been reading.

Why now? Not when I've got another novel I'm supposed to be working on instead. Not when I won't even be able to give much time to *that* one because of the work that this semester will entail...

For personal reference, and because others on the flist may be interested: Academic journal on manga, anime, and the like. Hm. Deadline in early 2007. "Limits of the Human."

(Ooh, nifty. Prof. Lamarre--I had three semesters with him and he signed my passport documents--has an article in the first issue...)

Aw. Rejection from San Mateo county. I have another passel of job apps that I need to do...

Election results tonight! Woo! Exciting!

...What? I don't do sports, and this is the next best thing.

I miss the multi-party system of government. It's not that I would vote for the Marijuana Party or the Marxist-Leninist party, but it's somehow good to know they're there.

...I have to go to class. I need a Coke. Caffeine withdrawal* is teh suck.

*I'm not going off caffeine; I'm going off soda, because sugar water is not so healthy. But because I don't do coffee, and hate diet soda, and can't get hot tea on campus, this effectively means I'm going off caffeine. The semester I have two night classes and a night shift. It's so much fun. And, interestingly, the one Coke I allow myself each week has started giving me heart palpitations.
