There will be more, but I'm taking a TV break.
I'm thinking now of a colleague I had back in Preservation. He was not what one would call a great employee, but a very nice guy regardless. We got along great--he managed to get me disciplined for talking too much, which, if you know me, is hilarious. He was learning French and Japanese.
Once, in his last couple days at work, we got to talking about how I wrote novels, and he wanted me to put him in one. I said I would, although really I couldn't know, and I was quite reluctant to put a walking gay stereotype in any novel I wrote. (He really, really was. He wore a tiara once).
But now, I look at Owl.
And I realized, I put this guy in my novel.
Hi, John. You'll almost certainly never find out, seeing as how I'm unlikely to get a terrible novel with a walking gay stereotype published, but you got your character.
