12/5/05 15:37They're raising my rent. Sort of.
They're raising my rent and giving me "free" cable (which I didn't have previously) and "free" cable internet, (which I've been paying for), so when I take into account the savings on my internet connection I'm being forced to pay $5 a month more and get cable TV. I guess I can't really complain about it, because $5 a month for cable is a pretty sweet deal, except that there's a *reason* I don't have cable, and haven't in five years. It's because I don't want to get sucked into spending all my free time watching bad TV, as I always do when I'm home at my parents' place. I don't get any TV at all now, but in Montreal, where I got two English channels, I ended up watching way too much Law and Order. There are some shows I have a great fondness for, but on balance, I'd rather do without.
I'm definitely not moving, though. It was hard enough finding a place in walking distance from the grocery store.
