Stories of moving
21/8/04 06:59I am presently moving into my little apartment in Carrboro, using mostly furniture we pulled out of the attic and storage space. And therein lies the problem.
You see, whoever built this house (in 1986, so it's not even old) was an IDIOT and did not build the attic very well. As my mother was in the attic pulling down pieces of a disassembled bunkbed half, her foot went through the attic floor and the bathroom ceiling.
She ignored this until we had half a dozen boxes moved in and a bed set up, and the insulation cleaned up from the bathroom where it had fallen, whereupon we spent four hours in the ER getting her foot looked at. She's supposed to stay off it for somewhere between 6 days and 8 weeks.
Sooo, since I'm not strong enough to move much furniture by myself, I may have to content myself with the bare minimum for a couple of weeks. At least we've moved all the kitchen stuff by now, so I can cook things. And there is public transportation, after all.
We have a lot of books and no bookcases. Bookcases are so expensive!
