I had a couple major goals for this summer.

First, to cram as much Spanish as I could into my brain. This is actually going fairly well, easier and at the same time harder than it should be because I already know French. Spanish is just French with different vocabulary; the two languages are incredibly closely related, and that makes things much easier. But it also lets me coast along with passive recognition. I don't know if it'll get any easier until I can find someone to practice Spanish with on a regular basis.

Second, to learn to drive. I got my learners' permit on Monday, and since then I've been driving for a few minutes each day; today I finally got out into an actual road with actual cars on it. A nervewracking experience, since I'm driving the family SUV, which is a tank. But no one has been hurt so far--not even a small dent. I have little hope of getting a car until I'm gainfully employed, but still, it's painful not to be able to drive anywhere, and I'd like to get my license soon...

I also was going to get my wisdom teeth out, but I'm hoping that won't happen any time soon.
