I am not ready for ebooks. Or ebooks are not ready for me.
I have just destroyed my third Kindle -- this one (and the second) with no apparent cause or reason, unlike the first which I butterfingered onto a sidewalk.
I'm reluctant to call and see if there's anything Amazon can do for me, because at this point they're sure to think I'm just trying to con them, and I guess I'm out of warranty anyway. I'm reluctant to replace it, too, because clearly I'll just destroy the next one. (Plus miscellaneous concerns about Amazon's Evil Empire-ness, whether any of the ebook readers will ever get it together to make deals with Japanese publishers, whether I really need 3G, whether I really want a tablet, and so forth.) 2012 was supposed to be the year I didn't buy any new electronic gadgets.
I am being super avoidant about a billion things I need to do.
Maybe I'll just watch more Deep Space Nine. I can keep doing that until I run out.
