What did I totally forget while I was neglecting to plan anything at all for the upcoming vacation?

Changing my meal preference for the flight to vegetarian.

So, of course they require 24 hours notice, and of course I spent half an hour on hold just to find out that I won't get served any airline food.

Must add "buy trail mix" to my long, long to-do list.

Speaking of extremely long airplane flights, I would be delighted to hear any book recommendations!

:( I've noticed more frequently airlines to/from Europe seem to have one veggie option by default -- you can either get a chicken dish or veggie pasta -- so maybe you'll get lucky? (Though not eating might help fight jetlag?)

yeah, I was just not going to eat at all to combat the jetlag...

That's helpful to know! I'm not sure if I'm going to not eat to fight jet lag -- I like to have a backup plan in case I get totally ravenous.

Even so, our flight gets in at 11 a.m. local time, so it makes sense to eat around 6 or 7. I got some apple pecan trail mix!
