My impossible hair, my impossible bookcases

That meme:

Take a picture of yourself right now.
don't change your clothes, don't fix your hair...just take a picture.
post that picture with NO editing.
post these instructions with your picture.

(No, you won't be able to get any of the titles off the bookshelves, since PhotoBooth mirror-images them...)

BUT I SEE MANGA. If they weren't Japanese, I'd totally be able to tell which ones they were by the spines, too.

Let's see - Saiyuki, Song of the Wind and Trees, Ice Cold Demon's Tale, Honey and Clover, Rainy Willow, Imperial Spring Evening Romance, Nana, Antique Romance, Love of the Water Lilies, Devil's Equation, His and Her Circumstances, To You In Full Bloom, Crystal Dragon, Book of the Beast, Onmyouji, Fox Wedding, 100 Demons, Library Wars, The Clan of Poe, and that's not counting the full drawers of manga beside the dresser. (Eek!)

My enormous head is blocking the books in my photo, heh heh.

And yet, I recognize the spine of of Leaves, for lo, it sits also upon my shelf!

Oh, so now I have to read it, instead of just letting it sit on my shelf where I can hope it makes me look smart!

(Well, it's only been sitting there since Sunday, so it's okay.)

Amusingly, it's the book that sits on my shelf to make me look pop-culture literate.

I actually stopped reading a quarter of the way in because it's so dense and the degree of interest it holds for me is really uneven. There are moments when you get sucked into the mythology and its quite riveting (and creepy as hell) but I think you get the effect almost as vividly from the, ehem, fanfic I read that introduced me to it, where the characters from due South get stuck in the . It was sort of made for crossovers.
