It's Saturday afternoon, and I'm bored at work.
This story is just too good, if by 'good' you mean 'too awful to be hilarious, actually':
A U.S. Congressional Candidate from Michigan, Tony Zirkle, is being criticized for giving a speech at the meeting of a certain controversial organization. He responded to the criticism that he "didn't know enough about the group to either favor it or oppose it" and "this is just a great opportunity for me to witness."
This group, which he knew so little about, was the National Socialist Workers Party.
I can believe that someone would know so little of history as to not recognize the import of that name, but you'd think the swastikas and the glittery "Happy Birthday Hitler" banner would have clued him in.
The sad thing is, he seems to be playing both sides of "I'm too stupid to know a nazi group when I see one" and "Yeah, actually, I AM a horrible racist," as his web site indicates:
I apologize for being flippant, but I have the sudden urge to do a D&D game in which the players fight a Great Porn Dragon.

I've been getting a flood of e-mails and phone calls, some of which include death threats, about my attempt to raise awareness of how the great porn dragon inspires Jews into pornography and prostitution and then, like the snake he is, turns the public against the Jews.

What? Is he actually saying that pornography and prostitution are somehow the special preserve of Jews, or is he just doing special Jewish outreach here and next week he'll worry about what the porn dragon does to good ol' boys and Ukrainian-Americans? Guess it's a change from money and banks but lord, talk about reaching.
