Of course the weekend I'm going up to New York is the weekend New York's on alert for a subway attack. Not that I'm worried about getting exploded--that's my mother's job. But I'm going to get my bags searched when my bags are full of costume bits, and then I'll have to explain.

And I already paid my dues in embarrassment when I went to Japan and told the truth--that I got interested in Sailor Moon--Every Single Time I was asked how I started learning Japanese.

But we'll still be taking the subway in NY, no? I mention this because mom has offered to pay for cab fare. I don't think she realizes quite how expensive this would be.
