Books

It's the time of year when the departments set up tables of nearly-free donated books to raise money. So I break my rule about not buying any more books until I finish the ones I have.

For $2, I have "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep," "The Persian Boy" by Mary Renault, and "Murder Must Advertise" by Dorothy Sayers.

It's okay because they're really cheap. Right?

Yes. And besides, everyone should have a copy of The Persian Boy.

You know, I think it was something you said--it was something on the Aestheticism ML, at any rate--that made me pick up an interest in Renault in the first place.

The King Must Die was really, really good.
Also, book sales have a way of making me forget that I could get any of those books at the library. But then, I'm sure I do need my own copy.

The King Must Die was my first hot book, at age 14 or so, and The Last of the Wine was what made me want to learn Greek, though my favourite is probably The Mask of Apollo.

Besides, Renault like Sayers is a great re-read.
