No, Canada!

This is an actual recipe from the official web page of Canadian lentils.

5 Minute Lentil Hummus

1-19 oz can (540 mL) lentils, rinsed and drained
½ cup (125 mL) fat-free ranch dressing
½ tsp (2 mL) curry powder
2 garlic cloves

1) Place all ingredients into food processor or blender. Blend to desired consistency.

That authentic middle eastern ingredient... fat-free ranch dressing.

(Also, half a teaspoon of curry powder is on the FAR, FAR side of too little. I say that as a certified spice wimp.)

Let me note here that my NaNoWriMo word count is now at 21212. I need 21666 to stay on schedule, but I amused to note that once you're in five digits, you get a palindrome just about every 100 words.

It is terrible that I want to try this (though probably quadrupling the curry powder)

Somehow I missed the 'fat-free'! Probably because I ignore that direction utterly whenever I see it.

Yeah, it is kind of silly; Probably tells you the age of the recipe since the low-fat/fat-free trend is pretty much over (?).

In other news I am JUST NOW reading the metafilter thread. HOW DID I MISS THIS TREASURE TROVE OF COMEDY?

Fat-free ranch dressing instead of tahini. This is ethnic cooking for the white-breaders, in spades. (Lentil hummous? Lentils taste nothing at all like chickpeas. Oh dear oh dear oh dear.)
