I wrote my first and second novels with graph paper where I could fill in one box for every page that I wrote. It was very motivating, and so are these word meters, and so is my cute little Excel spreadsheet that has data on my average wordcount and the wordcount I need every day in order to finish by the end of February... and I know there are more important things to worry about than wordcount, but the best way to know where I need to go with this novel is to just keep going, I think.
