In the small town of Arihata. There is an itty-bitty train station. In that area, in May, they have a festival with tons of yellow flowers.

This is all so natsukashii, even though I've never been in that end of the country. Where do you get your info on distances and the pictures from? Google? Memory?

Yeah, it's all in Google Maps and Gmap Pedometer (http://gmap-pedometer.com) and Wikipedia Japan and image searches on Google. I've never been in that end of the country either-- I picked my wished-for locations in March, in Montreal, so I picked Waseda for my top choice and "send me somewhere warm!" for the other two.

Of course, being in North Carolina in July right now, I'm thinking the opposite.
