From Horn Book: Reading Along the Gender Continuum.

I kind of wish it was more about the books themselves and not how books get marketed, but you can't really disregard what it means (in terms of one's identity as a reader, in terms of the judgment of one's peers) to pick up a book that clearly looks specifically like a "girl book" or a "boy book."

And I think it adds some much-needed nuances to the eternal debate about whether there is a crisis in boys' reading habits and what's to be done about it.
