My favorite book review EVAR.

"When Baldacci is on fire, no one can touch him" - Booklist.

This doesn't quite qualify as a mixed metaphor, because it isn't mixed. It's two bits of figurative language that don't clash when put together; they work better, although in a completely unintentional way.

Booklist saw fit to publish it, and his publishers saw fit to put it on ads in the subway.

I just find it hilarious.

I feel like such a grownup.

I watched a lot of CNN as a teenager. I feel like I need to make an excuse for this, so: I needed background noise while doing homework, and to decompress after school. MTV had stopped playing music; that left CNN.

If you have watched CNN, you know that they mostly advertise to upper-middle-class 50-year-old guys. So they advertised vitamins, life insurance, and stock brokerages. So the background noise of my teenage years (when it wasn't Smashing Pumpkins and Everclear) was mutual funds and IRAs and annual returns. I would even think, every so often, should I be saving for retirement?

So tonight I've been futzing about with my IRA rollover, and I'll do my pension rollover as well when that's all set. And I feel sort of like a 50-year-old guy...
