Squeaky wheel gets the travel voucher

I was so incensed at being made to pay for my own hotel when I got stuck in Philadelphia during my recent travels because of a canceled flight, seeing as how it was at a terrible hotel (2 MILES to a restaurant!) and the "distress" rate was over $100, which is as much as full price should ever be for a Holiday Inn in a bad location. So I wrote them a letter.

And they sent me a travel voucher.

But my yearly New York trip is already bought and paid for, and I just went to Canada, so where else am I going to go? Especially for only $125. Maybe a day in Mexico for spring break? Maybe a science fiction convention? Hmm.

I got a job interview. Yay. Pay's better, and I'm very ready to leave my current job.

I sort of got volunteered to read a poem at the local Hiroshima commemoration tomorrow. That is, when I volunteered to find a poem, I didn't know I was volunteering to read it in front of people in two languages.
(In English, in Japanese; I'm using a different translation, though.)

It makes me glad to live in an area where practically nobody speaks Japanese.
